If you see how your disk space is getting smaller and smaller along the time, surely GetFoldersize will come in handy to you. This tool allows you to identify the largest folders and files on your disk, at a glance. Once you analyze the reports this program generates for you, you can decide which elements you can delete, and so recover your misused disk space.

The program offers a simple user interface, whose usage may be a bit hard to understand at first, though. Its visual design is honestly not the best. Basically, you need to select the drive you want to be analyzed, and press the "Play" button. You can also analyze individual folders, but to do so, you need to add them to the source list first. According to the contents of your disk, it may take a while for the program to build the disk usage report for you, so I would recommend you be patient if you have lots of files and folders.

Once the process finishes, the results are shown in two panels. On the left one, you will see the list of detected folders under your selected location, ordered by size. By default you will see only their size, but you can set the program to show much more info like their usage percentage, their files/folders/subfolders count, their creation and modification dates, their attributes and more. On the right panel, on the other hand, you can see different sets of information, according to your choice. You can see the list of your system drives, the list of the files detected under the analyzed location -also ordered by size-, or the log with the results of the analysis. You can also show or hide several customized reports, such as 20 largest and smallest files, 20 newest and oldest files, 20 largest and smallest folders, and other. However, if you decide to show a new customized report, you will need to run the analysis again, as the program is not capable of extracting them automatically from the already done analysis.

Besides all the mentioned features, the program still offers some extra functions you can use. For example, you can filter your reports, hide or show any of the results panels or change the size units in your reports among bytes, kilobytes, megabytes or gigabytes. You can also change the interface language very easily, directly from the toolbar.

In short, GetFoldersize is a program that has a couple of setbacks, however, if you just want to identify your largest files and folders quickly, I would recommend you give it a try. You can use this program totally free of charge, be it for personal or commercial use.
